Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh: Tribal Welfare Department, Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Government of Andhra Pradesh, has been included in World Book of Records for orchestrating the world’s largest Tribal Dhimsa Dance, an extraordinary cultural spectacle featuring 13,500 tribal women. The historic performance was held on 1 August 2026 at the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport, Bhogapuram, in Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh, showcasing the vibrant heritage and rich cultural traditions of the tribal communities.

The record-setting performance formed one of the major highlights of the grand inauguration ceremony of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, members of the State Cabinet, senior government officials, tribal representatives, and thousands of spectators. The event celebrated both the state’s cultural legacy and a landmark achievement in infrastructure development.

The spectacular Dhimsa performance symbolized the unity, identity, and enduring traditions of Andhra Pradesh’s tribal communities while bringing global recognition to one of India’s most cherished indigenous dance forms.

World Book of Records certificate was formally presented by WBR Chartered Officer Dr. Ullaji Eliyazar to Sada Bhargavi, Director, Tribal Welfare Department, in recognition of this remarkable achievement. The record attempt was organized under the leadership of Aditya Verma, IAS, whose efforts played a pivotal role in successfully coordinating the historic cultural event.

The recognition stands as a testament to Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to preserving tribal heritage while showcasing its cultural richness on the global stage.
