Melbourne, Australia

The historic Queen’s Hall at the Parliament of Victoria, Melbourne, witnessed an inspiring celebration of global harmony, cultural diplomacy, and excellence during the World Peace & Bharat Gaurav Awards Ceremony 2026. The prestigious event brought together distinguished leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and achievers from across the world to honor individuals who have made remarkable contributions in their respective fields while promoting the spirit of peace and humanity.

Serving as a Distinguished Guest and Cultural Ambassador of India, Rakesh Kumar Shukla delivered a powerful and thought-provoking address emphasizing India’s timeless philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”The World is One Family.

Addressing the august gathering, Shukla highlighted India’s enduring commitment to global welfare and peace, stating that at a time when the world faces conflicts, instability, and divisions, humanity must revisit the values of unity, coexistence, and mutual respect.

“India continues to stand as a beacon of hope with its message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, a philosophy that views the entire world as one family. The world today needs this vision more than ever,” he said.

Reflecting on the significance of the venue, Shukla described Queen’s Hall as a symbol of democracy, dialogue, tolerance, and public service. He noted that from 1901 to 1927, the building served as Australia’s Federal Parliament, making it particularly meaningful that Indian-origin achievers were being honored in such a historic institution.

Speaking about the growing relationship between India and Australia, Shukla emphasized the shared democratic values, commitment to innovation, education, entrepreneurship, and human dignity that unite the two nations. He acknowledged the positive impact of the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), which has accelerated collaboration in trade, technology, healthcare, education, energy, and innovation.

He further praised the Indian diaspora in Australia, describing it as a “Living Bridge” between the two countries. Thousands of Indian-origin professionals, including doctors, scientists, educators, engineers, entrepreneurs, and public representatives, continue to contribute significantly to Australia’s progress and multicultural success.

Highlighting the role of Melbourne as a global cultural hub, Shukla referred to the city as more than just a destination, calling it “an idea where history and modernity walk together.” He also noted Melbourne’s recognition by UNESCO as a “City of Literature,” reflecting its global stature as a center of creativity, diversity, and innovation.

Congratulating the Bharat Gaurav Award recipients, Shukla remarked that true success is not merely a personal achievement but also a responsibility towards society, nation, and humanity. He praised the awardees for elevating India’s reputation on the global stage through their leadership, service, knowledge, and professional excellence.

In one of the most memorable moments of his speech, Shukla stated:

“The true strength of civilizations lies not in their armies or wealth, but in those individuals who illuminate humanity’s path through knowledge, character, and service.”

He concluded by calling for deeper cooperation between India and Australia in shaping a future driven by knowledge, innovation, peace, and human welfare. Quoting Swami Vivekananda’s famous message of universal acceptance and tolerance, he reaffirmed that these values remain the foundation of lasting world peace.

The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including:
