Air Force Sports Control Board included in World Book of Records for Two landmark sporting achievements
- Subroto Cup recognized as the World’s Largest Inter-School Football Tournament; Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon sets benchmark as India’s Largest Simultaneous Multi-City Running event
New Delhi, India: The Air Force Sports Control Board (AFSCB) has been included in World Book of Records for organizing two extraordinary sporting events that have significantly contributed to the promotion of sports, youth participation, and national fitness initiatives across India. The first recognition was conferred for successfully organizing the 64th Edition of the Subroto Cup (2025–26), acknowledged as the World’s Largest Inter-School Football Tournament.

The prestigious competition witnessed the participation of an impressive 4,351 schools and 69,616 students from across the country. Established in 1960, the Subroto Cup has evolved into one of the most respected school football tournaments in the world, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and pursue excellence in the sport. The second recognition was awarded for organizing the first-ever Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon 2025, recognized as India’s Largest Simultaneous Multi-City Running Event.

The marathon was conducted across 46 cities and attracted participation from more than 39,000 runners nationwide. The event was organized in honour of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, Param Vir Chakra, the only officer of the Indian Air Force to receive India’s highest wartime gallantry award. World Book of Records certificate was bestowed upon Air Commodore R.V. Prakash VM, AOC AFND and Chairman of the Organising Committee, by World Book of Records Chartered Officer Rahul Sharma.
