Over 2 Lakh Students Join Record-Breaking Cancer Awareness Pledge in Telangana

Hyderabad, Telangana, India: In a landmark public health initiative, the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, in collaboration with Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge, achieved a World Book of Records recognition for organizing the largest synchronized cancer prevention pledge.

More than 2 lakh students from 750 institutions across Telangana participated simultaneously in the “Youth for a Cancer-Free Tomorrow” pledge. The event was accompanied by an extensive awareness session focusing on cancer prevention, early detection, and healthy lifestyle practices. This initiative has been officially recorded as the largest synchronized cancer prevention pledge ever conducted, marking a significant milestone in public health advocacy.

The ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Ullaji Eliyazar, Chartered Officer of World Book of Records, who formally presented the certificate. The honor was received by key dignitaries including Trust Board Member JSR Prasad, CEO Dr. K. Krishnaiah, Associate Director Dr. Kalpana Raghunath, Medical Superintendent Dr. Phanikoteswara Rao, CFO Alwar Narayanan, and COO Sunill Tandon.

In recognition of the pivotal role played by TASK, a certificate was also conferred virtually to CEO Shrikant Sinha, and symbolically handed over to the TASK team. The institute further felicitated Dr. Eliyazar and extended appreciation to the TASK team for their valuable collaboration. This achievement reflects a strong commitment to cancer awareness, prevention, and community engagement, reinforcing a shared vision of building a healthier, cancer-free future through collective action and education.
