London Labour Asians Society Marks International Street Children’s Day with Community Leaders and Parliamentarians
London: The Labour Asians Society in London commemorated International Street Children’s Day with a significant gathering at the Labour Party HQ, bringing together British parliamentarians, community leaders, officials, and professionals from diverse sectors. The event underscored a shared commitment to supporting vulnerable children and empowering young people who require greater attention, care, and opportunities within society.

The purpose of hosting this important event was to raise awareness about the challenges faced by street children and disadvantaged youth, while reinforcing the collective responsibility of society to provide them with education, protection, and improved quality of life. The event highlighted the urgent need to support children who lack adequate parental guidance, social care, and access to opportunities, ensuring that no child is left behind.

Distinguished speakers addressed the audience, sharing insights into the pressing issues affecting young people today and emphasising the importance of community engagement and policy support. Among the keynote speakers were Navendu Mishra, Member of Parliament, Claire Reynolds, Executive Director of Stakeholder Relations, The Labour Party, Manish Tiwari, Co-Chair of the Labour Asian Society, and Maria Saroya, Head of the Women’s Wing of the Labour Asians Society.

Each speaker highlighted the critical role of education, mentorship, and inclusive community support in shaping the future of young people. They stressed that many children, particularly those from marginalised backgrounds, require greater attention from families, communities, and institutions to help them reach their full potential. The discussion also reflected the Labour Party’s continued focus on youth development, social inclusion, and policies aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged children.

Speakers further encouraged young people to actively engage with civic life and consider participation in the Labour Party as a platform to voice their concerns, develop leadership skills, and contribute positively to society. Emphasis was placed on unity, collaboration, and the importance of creating pathways for youth to succeed and become responsible citizens who can shape a better future for the country.

The event was hosted by Ashraf Nihal, Head of the Youth Wing of the Labour Asians Society, who warmly welcomed attendees on behalf of the organisation’s leadership, board members, and wider team. In his remarks, he reaffirmed the Society’s dedication to youth empowerment and community development, calling for continued collaboration among stakeholders to address the challenges faced by young people.

A strong presence of community leaders and members further reinforced the importance of collective action. Attendees expressed their commitment to continuing support for youth initiatives and working together to guide young people along positive paths in life. The event served as a platform to strengthen partnerships and inspire actionable steps toward improving the wellbeing and prospects of children in need.

The Labour Asians Society reiterated its mission to advocate for equality, opportunity, and social justice, particularly for underprivileged communities. By marking International Street Children’s Day, the organisation once again highlighted the importance of compassion, responsibility, and proactive engagement in building a more inclusive and supportive society.
